Raising the Profile of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Bakery Brand

The Opportunity

COBS Bread is one of Canada’s leading bakery franchises, with more than 190 locations nationwide. Our mandate spanned three core pillars: strengthen brand and executive visibility through national thought leadership, support franchise development with targeted business and trade coverage, and drive seasonal product awareness through lifestyle/food media and influencer engagement.

The Results

Executive profiling & thought-leadership campaign: More than 12 Million earned media impressions. Highlights include Globe and Mail, CTV News, 680 News, News 1130 Strategy, and Retail-Insider

Summer Buns campaign: 120 earned stories and 650,000 social impressions, driving strong visibility during COBS’ busiest sales period.

We led a Small Business Month Leadership Lab takeover in The Globe and Mail, developing a three-part article series featuring President Aaron Gillespie on entrepreneurship and franchise growth. Timed with a post-pandemic career shift, the series reached a national audience and positioned COBS Bread as a smart, profitable business opportunity.

To complement this thought leadership, we launched a seasonal product campaign with Chef Devan Rajkumar, creating custom summer grilling recipes featuring COBS’ gourmet buns. We also hosted a virtual “Grill & Chill” influencer event across six markets, supported by curated mailers and custom kits.

Over six years, Next PR has delivered national and regional campaigns for COBS Bread — from product innovation launches and major fundraising events to holiday pushes, local chef partnerships, and franchise recruitment marketing. This integrated, long-term strategy has driven visibility, boosted engagement, and brought more Canadians through bakery doors.
