The Opportunity
For the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, Laurie Weir served as PR Manager for the 19th edition of the festival in New York City. Leading a team of 14 publicists, she oversaw all communications and operations for media pre-screenings, opening night, and the full programming lineup. Her mandate included managing embargoed materials, coordinating with talent agents and filmmakers, and overseeing accreditation for more than 1,400 international journalists.
The Results
Extensive pre-festival earned media, including national coverage across People Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Entertainment Weekly, The TODAY Show, Good Morning America, and Rolling Stone.
She supported the Discover Your Tribeca 2020 creative campaign by securing actors, emerging filmmakers and cultural figures (including the legendary Radioman, Ben Sinclair and John Cameron Mitchell) to participate in a series of 3D avatar portraits designed by New York artists Tin and Ed, used across print and digital advertising.
She also led a festival sustainability initiative, working with strategic partners to offset the event’s carbon footprint. This included integrating a tree-planting donation feature into digital ticketing and mobile push notifications, helping the festival align its operations with its environmental commitments.
